Elmetacin contains indomethacin as an active ingredient. After external application of the preparation, the substance is absorbed through the skin and has an anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and decongestant effect in the affected area. Elmetacin is used for pain, inflammation and swelling caused by
- degenerative joint diseases (arthrosis of the knee and smaller joints)
- rheumatic diseases of the soft tissues (tendon and tendonitis, painful stiff shoulder, inflammation of the muscle and capsule tissue)

What is elmetacin and when is it used?
Elmetacin contains as Active substance indomethacin. After external application of the preparation, the substance is absorbed through the skin and has an anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and decongestant effect in the affected area. Elmetacin is used for pain, inflammation and swelling caused by

When must Elmetacin not be used?
Elmetacin must not be used:
- if you are hypersensitive to the active ingredient indomethacin or an auxiliary substance according to the compositionif you are hypersensitive to other anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. acetylsalicylic acid, aspirin)if you are pregnant or breastfeeding (See the section «Can Elmetacin be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?»)
The preparation must not come into contact with open wounds, mucous membranes, the eyes or eczematous skin.
When is caution required when using Elmetacin?
The preparation should not be used over a long period of time without consulting the doctor. Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you

Can Elmetacin be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
Elmetacin must not be used during pregnancy and while breastfeeding , unless expressly prescribed by a doctor. Elmetacin should not be used in the last third of pregnancy.
How do you use Elmetacin?Adults
Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, use Elmetacin 3-5 times a day. The solution is sprayed on to cover the diseased area. The maximum daily dose is 25 ml Elmetacin solution. Inform your doctor if the symptoms have not improved after 2 weeks or have even worsened. The solution contains alcohol and should therefore not come into contact with open wounds, mucous membranes or eyes. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse them immediately with plenty of water and inform your doctor.
The spray works purely mechanically. The bottle sprays in any position, upright or upside down (see illustration). Before using for the first time or after a long period of non-use, press the spray head several times, after which the spray bottle is ready for use.
Children
The use and safety of elmetacin in children has not been systematically evaluated. Stick to the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
What side effects can Elmetacin have?
The following side effects can occur when using Elmetacin:
Common (affects 1 to 10 users in 100)
Skin irritation, such as redness, itching, rash, possibly eczema. If it is severe, you should stop using the product.
Uncommon (affects 1 to 10 users in 1000)
Local allergic reactions (skin dermatitis) Other undesirable effects could occur if extremely large amounts are applied repeatedly to large areas. If you notice any side effects that are not described here, you should inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
What else needs to be considered?
The medicinal product may only be used up to the date marked «EXP» on the container.
Storage Instructions
Store at room temperature (15-25 °C). Medicines should be kept out of the reach of children.
