What is Lecapon-Mepha and when is it used?
As prescribed by your doctor.
Lecapon-Mepha is used to treat patients with Parkinson's Disease used that suffer from certain symptoms (fluctuating motor symptoms, so-called end dose or «on-off» symptoms). Lecapon-Mepha is used when the symptoms have not been adequately stabilized under previous therapy with one or two active ingredients.
Lecapon-Mepha is a combination of three active substances in one lactab. Every Lactab Lecapon-Mepha contains levodopa as a component that works against Parkinson's disease. In addition, each lactab contains carbidopa and entacapone. These improve the effect of relieving the Parkinson's symptoms of levodopa.
When should Lecapon-Mepha not be taken?
Lecapon-Mepha must not be taken if:
- you are hypersensitive to the active ingredients levodopa, carbidopa, entacapone or one of the other ingredients of Lecapon-Mepha.
- You have liver disease.
- You suffer from increased intraocular pressure due to glaucoma (glaucoma).

An intensification of the effects and side effects of the following drugs by Lecapon-Mepha is possible with:
- Certain mood-enhancing drugs (antidepressants) of the tricyclic antidepressant type, MAO-A inhibitors, norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (active ingredients such as maprotiline and venlafaxine).
- Medicinal products with the following active ingredients : Paroxetine, adrenaline, noradrenaline, dopamine, dobutamine, alpha-methyldopa and apomorphine.
The following drugs can reduce the effect of Lecapon-Mepha :

Lecapon-Mepha 100/25/200 mg Lactab contains the azo dye Allura Red AC (E129) and Lecapon-Mepha 150 / 37.5 / 200 mg Lactab contains the Azo dye azorubine (E122). These can cause allergic reactions.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you

Can Lecapon-Mepha be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
Lecapon-Mepha must not be used during pregnancy. Women are not allowed to breastfeed during treatment with Lecapon-Mepha.
How do you use Lecapon-Mepha?
A Lactab Lecapon-Mepha contains one treatment dose each. Take only one Lactab Lecapon-Mepha at a time. You should not take 2 or more Lactab Lecapon-Mepha at one time. Do not share the lactab.
You should strictly follow your doctor's instructions when taking Lecapon-Mepha, other medicines containing levodopa, and other medicines for Parkinson's disease . This includes following the instructions on when and how to take your medicine.
Do not change the prescribed dosage on your own. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
You should not start treatment with Lecapon-Mepha without extensive prior advice from your doctor Do not take Lecapon-Mepha together or shortly before or after a very protein-rich meal (e.g. lots of meat, fish, cheese and eggs), as the intake of one Active ingredient of Lecapon-Mepha can be impaired.
