What is Magnesia San Pellegrino and when is it used?

Magnesia S. Pellegrino is a laxative that stimulates the functioning of the colon and the secretion of water and mineral salts in the digestive tract. Magnesia S. Pellegrino is used for the short-term treatment of constipation and mild digestive problems such as gastric acidity or flatulence.

What should be considered?

Patients who are hypersensitive to any of the components should avoid using this drug. The drug should not be used by people suffering from severe kidney or heart dysfunction, nausea or abdominal pain of unknown origin.

When should you be careful when taking Magnesia San Pellegrino?

The recommended dosage must not be exceeded. There should be at least two hours between taking Magnesia San Pellegrino and any other medication. If constipation persists, a doctor should be consulted. Regular and prolonged use (over 1 to 2 weeks) as a laxative is not advisable, as this can lead to a certain degree of habituation and to significant loss of water and mineral salts, with cardiac muscle problems. In the case of constipation, it is advisable to eat a high-fiber diet (vegetables, fruit, wholemeal bread), to drink plenty and regularly and to ensure adequate physical activity (sport). Interactions of Magnesia San Pellegrino with certain antibiotics (tetracyclines, quinolones), coumarin-type anticoagulants, digoxin, chlorpromazine and other medicinal products have been observed. The effectiveness of these medicines is reduced if they are administered concomitantly with Magnesia San Pellegrino. For this reason, there should be an interval of at least two hours between taking Magnesia San Pellegrino and other medication. Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or are taking other medicines (even those you bought yourself!) or using them externally!

Can Magnesia San Pellegrino be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

As a precautionary measure, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding, or consult a doctor, pharmacist or druggist or ask the doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you must consult your doctor before taking Magnesia San Pellegrino.
