What is Pantoprazole-Mepha gastro and when is it used?
The active substance of Pantoprazole-Mepha gastro, pantoprazole, belongs to the class of proton pump inhibitors. It inhibits the enzyme responsible for releasing acid in the stomach (the proton pump).Pantoprazole-Mepha gastro is used in adults for the short-term treatment of symptoms of burning in the stomach and acid reflux caused by reflux of Stomach acid can be traced back to the esophagus.
When must Pantoprazole-Mepha gastro not be used?

- if you have had a stomach ulcer or an operation on the gastrointestinal tract,if you have been taking medicine for upset stomach or heartburn continuously for 4 weeks or more burping,if you have jaundice or liver problems,if you have another serious condition,if you are about to have an endoscopic examination (e.g. gastroscopy or breath test). ,You are older than 55 years and treat digestive disorders with non-prescription medicines on a daily basis.You are older than 55 years and have new or recently changed symptoms.If you have ever experienced skin reactions as a result of treatment with a medicine similar to Pantoprazole, which also reduces stomach acid.
Pantoprazole can affect the way other medicines work. Therefore, inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you are taking other medicines, such as
- medicines for fungal infections

Concomitant use of these medicines should be avoided.Do not take Pantoprazole-Mepha gastro with other medicines that reduce the amount of acid in the stomach, such as other proton pump inhibitors (omeprazole, lansoprazole or rabeprazole) or an H2- antagonists (e.g. ranitidine).However, if necessary, you may not take Pantoprazole-Mepha gastro together with antacids (e.g. magaldrate, alginic acid, sodium bicarbonate, Aaluminum hydroxide, magnesium carbonate or combinations thereof).If you experience side effects such as dizziness or blurred vision, you should not drive or use machines.If you take Pantoprazole-Mepha gastro for more than 3 months, it is possible that the levels of magnesium in your blood may fall. Low magnesium levels are manifested by fatigue, involuntary muscle tension, confusion, cramps, dizziness and increased heart rate. If you experience any of these side effects, please tell your doctor immediately. Low magnesium levels can also lead to a decrease in potassium and calcium levels in the blood. This medicinal product contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per film-coated tablet, i.e. it is virtually «sodium-free».
Can Pantoprazole-Mepha gastro be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
If you are pregnant or want to become pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding, you must not take Pantoprazole-Mepha gastro without consulting your doctor.
How to use Pantoprazole-Mepha gastro?
Always take Pantoprazole-Mepha gastro as described here.
