What is PERSKINDOL Cool Gel comfrey and when is it used?

PERSKINDOL Cool Gel comfrey is a locally effective medicinal product for external use. The gel contains comfrey and levomenthol. Levomenthol has an anti-inflammatory effect. PERSKINDOL Cool Gel comfrey also contains a pain-relieving component of plant origin (comfrey), which is responsible for rapid cooling and pain relief in the affected part of the body. The gel is applied for the symptomatic treatment of sprains, tendinitis, tendonitis, periosteum, Achilles tendonitis and tennis elbow. The active ingredients in PERSKINDOL Cool Gel comfrey are quickly absorbed by the skin and have a direct effect on the underlying tissue and joint areas.

When should PERSKINDOL Cool Gel comfrey not be used or only with caution?

In case of known hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients (see composition). Do not use on infants and young children. Do not apply to open wounds or eczematous inflamed skin or mucous membranes. Avoid contact in the eye area. Only use with air-permeable compresses. Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you:

  • suffer from other illnesseshave allergies (calamine allergy)use other medications, including self-bought, locally (topically) or systemically.

Can PERSKINDOL Cool Gel comfrey be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Based on previous experience, there is no risk for the child if used as directed known. However, systematic scientific investigations have never been carried out. As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.

How do you use PERSKINDOL Cool Gel comfrey? Adults and children from 3 years

Unless otherwise prescribed, apply the gel in a thin layer (depending on the extent of the painful area, a 3 to 5 cm long strips) and rub in. Wash hands well after use. As needed up to 5 times a day. Stick to the dosage given in the package insert or prescribed by your doctor. If you think that PERSKINDOL Cool Gel Wallwurz is too weak or too strong, consult your doctor, pharmacist or druggist. The use and safety of PERSKINDOL Cool Gel comfrey in small children has not yet been tested.

What side effects can PERSKINDOL Cool Gel comfrey have?

The following side effects can occur when using PERSKINDOL Cool Gel comfrey: Slight itching, reddening or burning of the skin can occasionally occur. In the event of rare eczematous skin changes or very rare pronounced hypersensitivity reactions or cold burns, the treatment should be discontinued and the doctor informed if necessary. If you notice side effects that are not described here, you should inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What else needs to be considered?

Keep at room temperature (15-25°C) and out of the reach of children. The high concentration of comfrey tincture (94.1%) may cause the gel to be slightly sticky. It is advisable to massage in well and then wash your hands. PERSKINDOL Cool Gel Wallwurz may only be used up to the date marked «EXP» on the container. What does PERSKINDOL Cool Gel comfrey contain?

100 g gel contains 94.1 g comfrey tincture (ratio of fresh plants to tincture: 1:4), levomenthol 2 g. This preparation also contains auxiliary substances.
