What is Cetirizin Streuli and when is it used?
Cetirizin Streuli is effective in the basic treatment of allergic diseases. It blocks the action of histamine, which is released in the body during allergic reactions. Cetirizin Streuli is used in adults and children from the age of 6 to treat allergic diseases such as hay fever, allergic nasal discomfort and allergic conjunctivitis as well as chronic hives (which are often associated with itching). The treatment duration for children with allergic nasal discomfort must not exceed 4 weeks. Cetirizin Streuli is available in the form of film-coated tablets.
When should Cetirizin Streuli not be taken/used?
Patients who are hypersensitive to the active substance, other related substances or any other component of Cetirizin Streuli must not use the preparation.Breastfeeding women should not use Cetirizin Streuli.Pregnant women should only use Cetirizin Streuli on take a doctor?s prescription.
Since the film-coated tablets contain lactose, patients with rare hereditary disorders such as galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome should not take the film-coated tablets.
Patients with severe kidney disease (severe impairment of kidney function with a creatinine clearance below 10 ml/min) should not take Cetirizin Streuli.
When do you have to be careful when taking/using Cetirizin Streuli?
Children under the age of 6 should not be treated with Cetirizin Streuli.A simultaneous intake of Cetirizin Streuli and theophylline (an active ingredient for the treatment of shortness of breath) should only take place after consultation with your doctor.Cetirizin Streuli and preparations containing glipizide (a drug for the treatment of diabetes) should be used not be taken together. It is recommended to take the Glipizide medication in the morning and Cetirizin Streuli in the evening.
In epileptics, Cetirizin Streuli should be used with caution, as it could possibly trigger seizures.
Caution is required when using Cetirizin Streuli and sedatives or painkillers at the same time.

During treatment with Cetirizin Streuli, it is advisable not to drink alcohol.

Can Cetirizin Streuli be taken/used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
No undesirable effects have been found in animal experiments. Nevertheless, like other medicines, Cetirizin Streuli should not be taken during pregnancy. If you accidentally take Cetirizin Streuli during pregnancy, no harmful effects are to be expected for the unborn child, but the treatment should be discontinued immediately.Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant or want to become pregnant.During theCetirizin Streuli should not be taken while breastfeeding, as the active ingredient passes into breast milk.
How do you use Cetirizin Streuli?
For adults and children over 6 years of age: The usual dosage is one Cetirizin Streuli film-coated tablet once a day. For children from 6 to 12 years of age, the dosage can be divided into two intakes (half a film-coated tablet in the morning and half in the evening). If there are slight side effects (tiredness, headaches, gastrointestinal disorders) that do not go away on their own, it is also advisable for adults to take half a film-coated tablet in the morning and half in the evening.
Patients with moderate to severe kidney failure
Patients with impaired kidney function (renal insufficiency) may receive a lower dose, which depends on the severity of the kidney disease and is recommended by the doctor treating you or the doctor treating you.
The Cetirizin Streuli film tablets should be taken whole with a glass of liquid.
Cetirizin Streuli can be taken with or without meals. The duration of treatment depends on the type, duration and course of the symptoms and is determined by the doctor. If you forget to take a dose of Cetirizin Streuli, simply continue the treatment. Please do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

What side effects can Cetirizin Streuli have?
The following side effects can occur when taking Cetirizin Streuli: Slight tiredness may occur at the start of treatment. Slight headaches, difficulty concentrating, drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, gastrointestinal disorders (e.g. diarrhea, abdominal pain), nausea and hypersensitivity reactions have also been reported. Seizures, movement disorders, photosensitivity reactions, liver damage, allergic shock, circulatory failure, deafness, malaise, itching, rash, urticaria (nettle rash), abnormal sensations in the skin, rapid heartbeat and agitation, edema (swelling), weight gain, confusion, hallucinations, insomnia, aggression, micturition disorders (abnormal urination), extreme tiredness, Vein inflammation and visual disturbances have been reported. Memory loss (amnesia), memory disorders, dizziness, urinary retention, increased appetite, suicidal thoughts, nightmares, joint pain, acute skin rash over the whole body with pustules and liver inflammation can occur, the frequency of which cannot be estimated from the available data.Itching and/or hives have been reported after stopping cetirizine.If you experience any of these side effects, stop taking Cetirizin Streuli and inform your doctor or your doctor.
