What is Riopan Gel/Riopan Gel Forte and when is it used?

Riopan Gel/Riopan Gel Forte is taken for heartburn, acid reflux, or a feeling of pressure and fullness in the stomach area.

The active ingredient magaldrate reduces the amount of acid, binds pepsin and bile components, and eliminates the aggressive effect of gastric juice by forming a mucosal-protecting coating.

What should be considered?

It is important to pay attention to your general diet and Diet should be observed. Stress and foods that are not individually beneficial, as well as excessive smoking and alcohol consumption, should be avoided.

When should Riopan Gel/Riopan Gel Forte not be taken?

In case of known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient magaldrate or any of the excipients of the drug, and in case of low serum phosphate levels (hypophosphatemia).

When should caution be exercised when taking Riopan Gel/Riopan Gel Forte?

Riopan Gel/Riopan Gel Forte should not be taken for longer than 2 weeks without medical consultation. Long-term use may lead to changes in blood salt levels, particularly calcium and phosphate.

Patients suffering from kidney disease should only take this medication after consulting a doctor.

If symptoms persist for a long time and/or recur frequently, a doctor must examine whether a serious illness may be present.

Concomitant use of Riopan Gel/Riopan Gel Forte may reduce the absorption of many other medications (e.g., heart medications or antibiotics). Therefore, other medications should always be taken at least 2 hours before or after Riopan Gel/Riopan Gel Forte.

Acidic drinks (e.g., fruit juices, wine, effervescent tablets containing citric or tartaric acid) promote the absorption of aluminum from Riopan Gel/Riopan Gel Forte. Therefore, Riopan Gel/Riopan Gel Forte should not be taken with acidic drinks if possible.

This medicine contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per 10 ml of gel, i.e., it is virtually "sodium-free."

Inform your doctor, pharmacist, or druggist if you

Can Riopan Gel/Riopan Gel Forte be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding? be taken?

As a precaution, you should avoid medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding, if possible, or consult your doctor, pharmacist, or druggist for advice.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, you should only take Riopan Gel/Riopan Gel Forte after consulting your doctor.

How do you use Riopan Gel/Riopan Gel Forte?

Adults: Generally, for mild stomach upsets, 12 tablets are used. - Take 10 ml of Riopan Gel in a measuring cup or the contents of one Riopan Gel/Riopan Gel Forte sachet 1 hour after eating or when symptoms occur.

The daily dose of 6400 mg magaldrate (equivalent to 8 Riopan Gel sachets or 4 Riopan Gel Forte sachets) should not be exceeded.

The use and safety of Riopan Gel/Riopan Gel Forte in children and adolescents has not yet been tested.

When taking Riopan Gel/Riopan Gel Forte in sachets, please note the following: Shake Riopan Gel/Riopan Gel Forte in the sealed sachet. Then, to open the sachet, pinch it with your thumb and index finger and tear it open along the marked line. To take the gel, hold the sachet with the opening clamped closed to your mouth, squeeze out the contents, and swallow.

What side effects can Riopan Gel/Riopan Gel Forte have?

Especially at high doses, mushy stools, increased stool frequency, and in very rare cases, diarrhea and constipation may occur.

With long-term useUse may cause changes in blood salts, particularly calcium and phosphate.

Crunchy stools

Diarrhea, increased magnesium levels (hypermagnesemia)

This medicine must only be used by the date marked "EXP" on the container.

Use by after opening

Riopan Gel in the bottle must be used within 6 months of opening!
