What is ialugen and when is it used?

ialugen contains sodium hyaluronate as an active ingredient, a natural substance that accelerates scarring. ialugen is available as a cream and medicated gauzes. It is a wound healing agent that accelerates the healing of small, light wounds and less extensive burns (1st degree).ialugen can only be used to treat ulcers if prescribed by a doctor.

What should be considered?

Large, heavily contaminated or deep wounds, such as bite and puncture wounds, require medical treatment (risk of tetanus). If the wound size does not decrease within a certain time or if the wound has not healed after 10-14 days, you should also consult the doctor. You should do the same if the edges of the wound are very red, if the wound suddenly swells and becomes very painful, or if you have a fever (risk of blood poisoning).

When should ialugen not be used?

You should not use ialugen cream and gauze if you are allergic to one or more of the ingredients (see «What does ialugen contain?»). The same limitation applies to severe, deep and heavily contaminated wounds. Such injuries must be cleaned under medical supervision.

When is caution required when using ialugen?

In very rare cases, sodium hyaluronate or any additives contained in ialugen, especially with long-term use, can lead to allergic symptoms (e.g. itching) (see «What side effects can ialugen have?»).In such cases, it is recommended to interrupt the therapy and inform your doctor.Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you

Can ialugen be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.

How do you use ialugen?

Before using the ialugen cream and gauze, the wounds and their surroundings must be cleaned and disinfected. In particular, it is recommended to remove the cream residues from a previous application.

Cream: unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the ialugen cream is applied 2-3 times a day in a thin layer evenly over the entire injury until the scar has formed.

The cream can be easily washed off with water.

Medicated gauzes: Depending on the wound surface, apply one or more gauzes 2 or more times a day. The ialugen gauze must be removed with sterile forceps and placed on the previously cleaned and disinfected wound; then cover the wound with sterile gauze and then with cotton wool and fix the whole thing with a suitable bandage.

The individual packs are intended for single use.

The use and safety of ialugen in children and adolescents has not yet been tested. Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the child when used as directed.

Stick to the dosage given in the package leaflet or prescribed by the doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, Apotheker or druggist, or with your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can ialugen have?

The following side effects can occur when using ialugen:In very rare cases, sodium hyaluronate or any additives contained in ialugen, especially with long-term use, can lead to allergic symptoms (e.g. itching, eczema, skin reddening, skin reactions or burning).

The drug may only be used up to the date marked "EXP" on the container.

What does ialugen contain?

Active ingredients

Sodium hyaluronate, 2 mg per 1 g cream, or 2 mg per 4 g medicated gauze (0.5 mg per 1 g gauze).
