What is Kodan forte and when is it used?

Kodan® forte colorless / colored is an alcohol-based and colorless / colored skin disinfectant.

Kodan® forte is effective against bacteria, skin fungi and individual viruses.

Kodan® forte is used by medical professionals for disinfection before surgical and diagnostic interventions, catheterization, blood and liquor collection, injections, punctures, excisions, Kan nulations and biopsies.If prescribed by a doctor, Kodan® forte can be used to disinfect wounds and to treat sutures.

When must Kodan forte not be used?

Due to the high alcohol content, Kodan® forte must not be used in premature babies and newborns, as the skin that is still immature can cause skin damage and burns.Kodan® forte must not be used in the event of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients contained. p>Do not use on mucous membranes, eyes or ears.

When is caution required when using Kodan forte?

Kodan® forte is intended for external use only. Do not ingest.Kodan® forte must not be used for a long period of time.Avoid getting Kodan® forte in your eyes. In the event of accidental contact, immediately flush the eye from the inside out with plenty of water for several minutes with the eyelid wide open.

Patients who are hypersensitive to azo dyes, acetylsalicylic acid and rheumatism and painkillers (prostaglandin inhibitors) should not use colored Kodan® forte.

Kodan® forte is highly flammable. It is therefore important to ensure that areas of skin disinfected with Kodan® forte are completely dry before electrical devices such as thermal cautery are used.Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you- suffer from other diseases- have allergies or- take other medicines (including those you bought yourself) or use them externally!

Can Kodan forte be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

There is no clinical data available on use in pregnant women.

Kodan® forte should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless specifically prescribed by a doctor.

How do you use Kodan forte?

If necessary, apply or spray onto the skin or wound areas to be disinfected until completely wetted and leave to act for 1 minute. Do not apply a bandage until the solution has dried completely.

Rub in approx. 3 ml of colorless Kodan® forte for 30 seconds for hygienic hand disinfection.

The use and safety of Kodan® forte in children and adolescents has not yet been tested. For this reason, Kodan® forte should only be used in children and adolescents if prescribed by a doctor.

Stick to the dosage specified in the package insert or prescribed by the doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Kodan forte have?

In rare cases, burning sensations and contact allergic reactions can occur.Due to the azo dyes contained, hypersensitivity reactions of the skin and respiratory organs can be triggered with Kodan® forte colored , especially in patients with asthma, nettle rash (chronic urticaria) or hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid and other rheumatism and painkillers.If you have side effectsnotices that are not described here, you should inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What else needs to be considered?

Flammable - do not bring into contact with open flames or switched on electrical heat sources!Keep out of the reach of children! Don't ingest. Store at room temperature (15 ? 25 °C).The medicinal product may only be used up to the date marked «Use by» on the container.Be careful when using electrical devices, such as thermal cautery, after using Kodan® forte. Do not use electrical devices and thermal cautery until the disinfected skin areas have dried. Remove electrical devices and sources of ignition immediately if you accidentally spill Kodan® forte.Your doctor, pharmacist or druggist can provide you with further information. What does Kodan forte contain?

1 ml Kodan® forte colorless contains alcohol isopropylicus 403 mg, alcohol propylicus 90 mg, 2-phenylphenol 1.8 mg. Excipiens ad solutionem per 1 ml. Kodan® forte colored also contains: Excipients: Color.: E 104, E 110, E151.
