Description - Duofer Fol film tablets 100 pcs
What is DuoFer Fol and when is it used?
DuoFer Fol is an iron and folic acid preparation that is used to prevent and treat iron deficiency and anemia with increased folic acid requirements during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Iron deficiency can occur when there is an increased need (e.g. pregnancy, growth), increased loss (e.g. bleeding) or reduced supply (e.g. insufficient iron content in food). Anemia in particular can occur as a result of iron deficiency.
DuoFer Fol contains two iron salts with different dissolving properties, which results in a continuous release in the gastrointestinal tract. DuoFer Fol also contains vitamin C, which counteracts oxidation of the iron and promotes iron absorption through the intestinal mucosa.
What should be considered?
The diagnosis of iron deficiency with an increased need for folic acid is provided by the doctor. The patient notices paleness, a certain degree of tiredness and a loss of performance with slowing down, especially in the case of acute anemia.
The low level of iron and blood pigment (hemoglobin) in the blood should have been confirmed by suitable tests.
In the treatment of anemia
If the anemia is not caused by iron deficiency, iron-containing preparations are not necessary. In such cases, chronic administration can lead to iron overload.
When should DuoFer Fol not be used?
In the case of hypersensitivity to an ingredient, iron overload, iron utilization disorders, anemia without confirmed iron deficiency and Anemia due to a lack of vitamin B12. Also in the case of justified intolerance, e.g. severe inflammatory changes in the gastrointestinal tract and stomach ulcers, as well as severe liver or kidney diseases.
Your doctor knows what to do in such cases .
When is caution required when taking DuoFer Fol?
In the case of inflammatory stomach or intestinal diseases, in the case of pathologically delayed gastric emptying and certain other diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, you should Take iron-containing medicines with caution and only after consulting your doctor.Certain medicines to treat stomach acid, certain painkillers, antibiotics and gold preparations, as well as food and beverages (e.g. coffee) can impair iron absorption.Iron-containing preparations can reduce the effectiveness of numerous medicines, such as certain antibiotics, osteoporosis medicines, thyroid hormones, Parkinson's medicines.Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist or druggist and read the package leaflet of your other medication carefully. The irritating effect on the mucous membranes of iron-containing preparations in the stomach and intestines can be increased by taking certain anti-inflammatory drugs at the same time.Between intake one of the medicines or foods mentioned above and that of an iron-containing preparation should therefore be left for several hours.Chronic alcohol abuse can lead to iron overload by increasing iron intake.Folic acid can impair the effects of certain medications against seizures (epilepsy). Certain medicines for seizures (epilepsy) can lower the folic acid level. Alcoholic beverages hinder the absorption of folic acid. Both can weaken the effect of the folic acid contained in DuoFer Fol.
Do not drink alcohol at all during treatment and during pregnancy.
Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist , pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other diseases, have allergies or other medicines(including those you bought yourself!) or use externally. This medicinal product contains less than 1mmol sodium (23mg) per film-coated tablet, i.e. it is almost «sodium-free».
Can DuoFer Fol be taken during a Pregnancy or breastfeeding?
DuoFer Fol may be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding in the specified dosage. However, you should first talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist before you start taking DuoFer Fol.
How do you use DuoFer Fol?To prevent iron deficiency with an increased need for folic acid
1 film-coated tablet daily before, during and after pregnancy.
For treating anemia caused by iron deficiency with an increased need for folic acid
1-2 film-coated tablets daily.
The doctor can adapt this recommendation to your needs and will discuss the duration of intake with you.
Before breakfast and, if necessary, before dinner Swallow the film-coated tablet whole with liquid. Iron is best absorbed on an empty stomach. Simultaneously taking it with food reduces the likelihood of side effects in the gastrointestinal tract, but this also means that less iron is absorbed.
Treatment with DuoFer Fol for anemia is intended to replenish the body's iron storage organs after normal hemoglobin levels have been reached (liver, spleen, bone marrow) for about 1 month.Stick to the dosage given in this leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
