What is Andreamag and when is it used?

Andreamag is a mineral supplement and contains 300 mg magnesium per effervescent tablet, equivalent to 12.3 mmol.

Andreamag is used to treat a magnesium deficiency and to cover an increased need for magnesium in high-performance sports and during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Andreamag can be used on medical prescription or on the advice of a pharmacist or be used by a pharmacist

in the event of hyperexcitability of the muscles;in muscular cramps and calf cramps;to prevent the formation of certain urinary stones;in the event of increased magnesium loss through the intake of certain drugs (e.g. aminoglycoside antibiotics, cyclosporine A, amphotericin, diuretic drugs or medicines for heart failure).

Andreamag can be used if prescribed by a doctor

for the treatment of certain cardiac arrhythmias;as an adjunctive therapy for coronary heart disease;for magnesium deficiency tetany;for cramps during pregnancy (eclampsia);for imminent premature birth.

When may Andreamag not be used?

Andreamag may not be used not to be taken if the kidney function is severely impaired, if the body is dried out (dehydrated) and if there is a predisposition to stone formation (kidney or bladder stones).

When should caution be taken when taking Andreamag?

Caution is advised if kidney function is moderately impaired. If the medicine is taken for leg cramps and these last longer than 10 days, a doctor must be consulted.Andreamag should not be taken at the same time as tetracyclines (a group of antibiotics) and iron-containing preparations. A staggered intake of 2-3 hours is possible.

Taking Andreamag and vitamin D3 at the same time can cause an increase in the calcium level in the blood.

Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies, or are taking or using other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally.

Andreamag may be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding time?

Andreamag may be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, you should always ask your doctor whether you can take the medicine.

How do you use Andreamag?

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor:Adults and adolescents from the age of 12: 1 effervescent tablet in a glass of water (1½ dl) once a day.The use and safety of Andreamag in children under the age of 12 have not yet been tested

Observe the dosage given in the leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Andreamag have?

The following side effects can occur when taking Andreamag: Occasional diarrhea, especially if the recommended dose is exceeded.In the event of severe diarrhea, you should inform your doctor and, if necessary, stop the treatment .

Store at room temperature (15-25 °C) and out of the reach of children.
