Description - Importal solution bottle 200 ml

Importal Solution contains lactitol, which is not absorbed by the small intestine. In the large intestine, lactitol is converted into various substances that retain water. This will soften the stool and make it easier to pass. The calorie content of lactitol is about half that of sugar, namely 2 kcal/g (8.5 kJ/g). Importal Solution has no effect on blood sugar in diabetics and does not promote caries. Importal Solution is recommended for the treatment of occasional constipation (e.g. when changing diet, changing location or during bed rest) and for regulating stool in people with a tendency to constipation. The doctor can also prescribe Importal solution for certain liver diseases.

When must Importal solution not be used?

Infants and young children with hereditary fructose intolerance should not be given Importal.

When should you be careful when taking Importal Solution?

In the case of chronic constipation, treatment should initially consist of a high-fiber diet, plenty of fluids and plenty of physical exercise. Medical advice is recommended for serious illnesses. In the event of a bowel examination, you must inform your doctor that you are taking Importal solution. If you are nauseous, you should take Importal Solution with a meal. As with all laxatives, it is advised to drink an adequate and sufficient amount of fluids daily. Continuous, long-term use of laxatives without medical advice should be avoided. With high doses, prolonged or too frequent use, diarrhea with loss of water and disturbances in the mineral balance (e.g. loss of potassium) can occur. Like any laxative, Importal Solution may increase potassium losses caused by other drugs. This is particularly the case in treated patients with certain heart diseases. They should therefore only use Importal Solution under strict instructions from the doctor. Importal should only be used on infants and young children if prescribed by a doctor. Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, galactose intolerance, galactosemia, glucose-galactose malabsorption or lactase deficiency should not take Importal.
