What is Calcimagon-D3 / Calcimagon-D3 Forte and when is it used?

Calcimagon-D₃ and Calcimagon-D₃ Forte contain the active ingredients calcium and vitamins, which are important for healthy bone formation D₃.The preparations are suitable for the treatment and prevention of diseases that are based on a vitamin D or calcium deficiency in old age and to support the prevention and therapy of osteoporosis.

When must Calcimagon-D3/- Forte not be used?

If you are hypersensitive to one or more ingredients according to the composition, if you have an increased calcium level in the blood, increased calcium excretion in the urine, impaired kidney function, kidney or bladder stones, after a long period of immobility or if your doctor has told you not to take calcium.

When is caution required when taking Calcimagon-D3 / Calcimagon-D3 Forte?

In chronic kidney dysfunction and stone formation in the urinary tract.Additional intake of vitamin D and/or calcium should be done under medical supervision to avoid overdosing. Long-term intake of large amounts of calcium or high doses of vitamin D from food or medicines and at the same time easy-to-absorb basic substances (alkalis, e.g. bicarbonates, which are contained in medicines to bind gastric acid) can lead to a milk-alkali syndrome (calcium metabolism disorder) with the risk of kidney damage. Simultaneous intake should be avoided at all costs.

Caution is advised when taking cardiac glycosides and diuretics (thiazides) at the same time, since interactions can occur.

What side effects can Calcimagon-D3 / Calcimagon-D3 Forte have?

Occasionally increased calcium content in the blood and increased excretion in the urine. In the case of an overdose in connection with the intake of alkaline substances (e.g. agents for binding gastric acid), a milk-alkaline syndrome can develop (see under "When should caution be exercised?"). In rare cases, slight disturbances in the digestive tract such as constipation, upper abdominal complaints such as a feeling of fullness, slight flatulence, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
