Description - Creon 10000 caps bottle 100 pcs

What is Creon and when is it used?

Creon contains the active ingredient pancreatin with the enzymes important for digesting food (lipase, amylase and protease) in a concentrated form. These break down the fats, proteins and carbohydrates contained in the food into usable components.

On the instructions of the doctor, pharmacist or druggist, Creon can also be used to treat or supplement an insufficient pancreatic function, i.e. in the event of a lack or absence of digestive enzymes, e.g. after acute pancreatitis at the onset of resumption of food or artificial nutrition, chronic inflammation of the pancreas, cystic pancreatic fibrosis or after surgical interventions in the digestive tract. The pancreatin is contained in Creon in the form of so-called micropellets. These are filled into capsules, which dissolve in the stomach within a few minutes. The digestive enzymes are only released from the micropellets in the small intestine and quickly break down fats, proteins and carbohydrates. The digestive products of the food can now be absorbed from the intestine, just like the natural digestive process.

What should you pay attention to?

To support the treatment and to improve your well-being, you should divide your daily amount of food into several smaller meals (possibly snacks). You must ensure that you are adequately hydrated throughout the treatment.

When not to take Creon?

If you are hypersensitive (allergic) to any of the ingredients of the drug.

When should you be careful when taking Creon?

In children with cystic pancreatic fibrosis who require long-term treatment with pancreatic enzyme preparations, regular check-ups should be carried out in specialized centers. In some patients with mucoviscidosis (cystic fibrosis), specific constrictions in the colon area were observed during therapy with pancreatic enzyme preparations. These led to abdominal pain, vomiting and constipation and in some cases required surgery. If such symptoms occur, the preparation should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted without delay. This medicinal product contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per capsule, i.e. it is almost «sodium-free».Inform your doctor, pharmacist or pharmacist if you

  • have any other diseasesHave allergies ortake other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally!

Can Creon be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

If you are pregnant or want to become pregnant or if you are breastfeeding, you should only take Creon after consulting your doctor.

How do you use Creon?

The doctor will determine the correct dosage for you. The capsules are swallowed whole with sufficient liquid during or immediately after meals or snacks. For patients who have trouble swallowing capsules (e.g. small children or the elderly), the capsules can be opened and the contents either given to soft food (e.g. apple mash or yoghurt) - to avoid chewing - or swallowed the contents with acidic liquid (e.g. apple, orange or pineapple juice).Do not dissolve, crush or chew the capsule contents and do not mix with non-acidic food or liquid (e.g. milk or milk porridge) so that the protective film of the micropellets is not destroyed. This could lead to premature release of the active ingredient, causing inflammation of the oral mucosa and reducing the effectiveness of Creon.

The Creon capsules or their contents should not be kept in the mouthden.Any preparation of the capsule contents with food or liquid should be taken immediately and should not be stored.Adhere to the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think that the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Creon have?

Creon should not be used if you are allergic to pork protein, but this is extremely rare. The following side effects may occur when taking Creon:

Very common (affects more than 1 user in 10)

Abdominal pain.

Common (affects 1 to 10 users in 100)

Nausea, vomiting, constipation, gas, diarrhoea.

Uncommon (affects 1 to 10 users in 1000)

Skin reactions.Creon can also cause other serious allergic reactions, such as breathing problems or swollen lips. The side effects are not necessarily related to the medicine, but can also be related to an insufficient pancreas function. In some patients with cystic fibrosis ( cystic fibrosis) specific narrowing of the large intestine has been observed during therapy with high doses of pancreatic enzyme preparations. These led to abdominal pain, vomiting and constipation and in some cases required surgery. If such symptoms occur, the preparation must be discontinued immediately and the doctor consulted without delay. If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor, pharmacist or druggist. This also applies in particular to side effects that are not listed in this leaflet.
