AMZVWhat is Olfen Patch and when is it used ?

Olfen Patch is a self-adhesive, flexible patch to be placed on the skin, which contains diclofenac as an active ingredient, a substance with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. Olfen Patch is used for the local treatment of pain, inflammation and swelling as a result of sprains, dislocations, bruises and strains.

When must Olfen Patch not be used?

Olfen Patch must not be used:

• In the case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or an auxiliary substance according to the composition (see "What does Olfen Patch contain?"),In the case of hypersensitivity to other pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. acetylsalicylic acid).

Olfen Patch must not be used on open wounds (e.g. skin abrasions, cuts, etc.) or on eczematous skin.

When is caution required when using Olfen Patch?

Olfen Patch must not come into contact with the eyes and mucous membranes. Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you:

• have already used similar products (rheumatism ointments) and these led to allergic reactions,suffer from other diseases,have allergies or take other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally.

Can Olfen Patch be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

As a precaution, you should not use Olfen Patch during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless specifically prescribed by a doctor.

How do you use Olfen Patch?

Twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, 1 self-adhesive patch is applied to the skin area to be treated. Before use, remove the clear film that protects the gelatinous surface. The duration of treatment should not be longer than 14 days. The use of Olfen Patch in children has not yet been systematically tested. Stick to the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Olfen Patch have?

Olfen Patch is generally well tolerated. The following side effects can occur when using Olfen Patch: Itching, redness, swelling or blistering at the treated area. Very rarely, severe skin rashes, allergic reactions such as wheezing, shortness of breath or facial swelling, or increased sensitivity to sunlight have been observed. If any of the following side effects occur, stop using Olfen Patch and tell your doctor immediately: severe skin rash, wheezing, shortness of breath or swelling of the face. If you notice side effects that are not described here, you should inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What else needs to be considered?

The medicinal product may only be used up to the date marked «EXP» on the packaging. After first opening the envelope, the patches should be used within 3 months. After cutting open the envelope should be resealed so that the patches retain their moisture. Do not store above 25°C. Do not freeze and do not refrigerate. Keep out of the reach of children. What does Olfen Patch contain?

Active ingredient: 140 mg diclofenac sodium per 14 g corresponding to a concentration of 1% diclofenac sodium . Excipients: propylene glycol, antioxidants: sodium sulfite (E 221), butylated hydroxytoluene (E 321), aromatics, other excipients.
