What is Cutasept F (colorless) and when is it used?

Cutasept ® F is used to disinfect the skin and small wounds. Cutasept® F is also used by medical professionals to disinfect skin areas, pre- and postoperatively, before injections, catheterization, blood sampling and small medical interventions.

What should be considered?

Cutasept® F contains alcohol and is therefore flammable. Do not bring into contact with open flames or electrical heat sources that are switched on.

When should Cutasept F not be used?

Cutasept® F should not be used in the case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or to one of the excipients according to the composition. Due to the high alcohol content, Cutasept® F must not be used on premature babies and newborns, as skin damage and burns can occur due to the immature skin. Do not use on mucous membranes or around the eyes.

When is caution required when using Cutasept F

Cutasept® F is intended for external use only. Don't ingest. If the solution comes into contact with the eyes, the opened eyes should be washed with running water for a few minutes. Cutasept® F is flammable. It must therefore be ensured that electrical devices are only used when the skin disinfected with Cutasept® F is completely dry. Soaps and other anion-active substances as well as proteins can reduce the effectiveness of Cutasept® F. The use and safety of Cutasept F in infants, children and adolescents has not yet been tested. Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you - suffering from other diseases, ? have allergies or ? take other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally!

Can Cutasept F be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

There are no clinical data on use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Cutasept® F may only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding if prescribed by your doctor. As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.

How do you use Cutasept F?

Use undiluted. Apply Cutasept® F to the skin area to be disinfected until it is completely wetted, by brushing or spraying.
Residence time at least 30 seconds, allow to dry completely. Pre- and postoperative skin disinfection Use undiluted. Apply Cutasept® F to the skin area to be disinfected with a soaked sterile swab until completely wetted. Exposure time 5 minutes, keep moist during the exposure time, then allow to dry completely. On skin rich in sebaceous glands: Before all procedures: apply the solution undiluted and leave it on for at least 10 minutes. The use and safety of Cutasept® F in babies, children and adolescents has not yet been tested. Stick to the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think that the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Cutasept F have?

The frequencies of side effects are defined as follows: "common" (?1/100, 1/10), "uncommon" (?1/1,000, 1/100), «rarely» (?1/10,000, 1/1,000), «very rarely» (1/10,000), «not known» (frequency based on cannot be estimated from the available data). Very rare (affects less than 1 in 10,000 users) Very rarely, skin irritation with e.g. skin reddening, rash, itching, dryness at the application site and hypersensitivity reactions can occur. If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist. This also applies in particular to side effects that are not listed in this leaflet.

What else needs to be considered?

Caution: Cutasept® F contains alcohol and is therefore flammable. Do not bring into contact with open flames or electrical heat sources that are switched on. Only use preparations externally. After spilling the disinfectant, the following measures must be taken: immediately absorb the liquid, dilute with plenty of water, ventilate the room and eliminate sources of ignition.
