What is AesculaMed forte and when is it used?

AesculaMed forte is a fresh plant preparation with an extract from fresh horse chestnut seeds. Each tablet contains 50 mg of aescin, a natural active ingredientin the horse chestnut, which improves the elasticity of the vein walls and thus promotes blood circulation and prevents leakage of fluid from the veins into the tissue. AesculaMed forte is therefore indicated for symptoms associated with varicose veins such as swollen legs (stasis oedema), pain and a feeling of heaviness in the legs and calf cramps.

What should be considered?

In addition to drug therapy, you should ensure sufficient exercise and avoid standing for long periods. The legs should be raised whenever possible and tied if necessary.

When should AesculaMed forte not be taken or should only be taken with caution?

Do not use AesculaMed forte on children or if you have a known hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients (see composition). Tell your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or are taking other medicines (including those you bought yourself).

Can AesculaMed forte be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the child if used as intended. However, systematic scientific investigations have never been carried out. As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.

How do you use AesculaMed forte?

Adults take 2 tablets daily (1 tablet in the morning and 1 tablet in the evening) with meals. Swallow the tablet whole with some water or another non-alcoholic drink. Follow the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can AesculaMed forte have?

The following side effects can occur when taking AesculaMed forte: In rare cases, sensitive people may experience mild stomach problems. These disorders can be largely avoided by taking the tablets with the main meals. If you notice any side effects that are not described here, you should inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What else needs to be considered?

Store AesculaMed forte at room temperature (15 - 25 °C), keep the container tightly closed and keep out of the sight and reach of children. The medicinal product may only be used up to the date marked ?EXP? on the container. Unused or expired packs should be returned to your pharmacist for disposal. Your doctor, pharmacist or druggist can provide you with further information.

What does AesculaMed forte contain?

1 film-coated tablet of AesculaMed forte contains: 158 - 225 mg standardized dry extract from fresh horse chestnut seeds (drug-extract ratio 4 - 6:1) corresponding to 50 mg aescin, extract agent Ethanol 68% (V/V).This preparation also contains excipients. AesculsMed forte is manufactured as an elongated, "oval" tablet that is easy to swallow.
