What is Hibiscrub and when is it used?
Hibiscrub is a disinfecting liquid soap and contains the active ingredient chlorhexidine digluconate, which is effective against bacteria, fungi and other pathogens.
It is used to disinfect hands. Hibiscrub is only used to disinfect the whole body before operations if prescribed by a doctor.
When should Hibiscrub not be used?
Hibiscrub should not be used if there is a known hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine or any other component of the preparation. If you know that you are sensitive to azo dyes or acetylsalicylic acid, e.g. aspirin, you should not use Hibiscrub. Hibiscrub must not come into contact with the eyes and ears (especially if the eardrum is injured).
When should you be careful when using Hibiscrub?
Do not use Hibiscrub with soap or with preparations containing iodophors, hexachlorophene or mercury, as this may reduce the effectiveness of Hibiscrub.Particular caution in premature babies (newborns ?32 weeks of pregnancy) and in babies Use on newborns in the first two weeks after birth, as Hibiscrub can cause chemical burns.Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you-suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or-take or use other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally.

Hand disinfection:
Wet hands with water and wash with approx. 5 ml of Hibiscrub for at least 1 minute, rinse thoroughly and dry.
Full body wash disinfection:
If your doctor prescribes a disinfection of the body before a planned operation has prescribed, you can do this with Hibiscrub at home or on the hospital ward as follows: Usually on the day before the operation, wash yourself at least twice with Hibiscrub, washing your face first and then your whole body from top to bottom. The nose, armpits, pubic area and navel should be washed particularly thoroughly. Then the whole body is rinsed off and washed again with Hibiscrub, this time starting with the hair. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a fresh cloth.
If Hibiscrub comes into contact with the eyes, rinse quickly and thoroughly with water for 15-30 minutes.
In newborns, the use of alcoholic or aqueous chlorhexidine solutions for skin disinfection can cause chemical burns.
