Alucol must not be taken for longer than 2 weeks without consulting a doctor. In the case of prolonged and/or recurring symptoms, a doctor must examine whether a serious illness could be present. Alucol should also not be taken for long periods of time without medical supervision, because long-term use can lead to changes in blood salts, especially calcium and phosphate. Taking Alucol at the same time as other medicines can reduce the absorption of many other medicines. Therefore, other medicines should always be taken 2 hours earlier or later than Alucol.
