What is Emser Salz and when is it used?
For the treatment of acute and chronic catarrhal diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses, pharynx, larynx and bronchi.
When should Emser Salz not be used?
Emser Salz should not be used if there is a known hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients (see «What does Emser Salz contain ?»).Emser Salz must not be inhaled if you have experienced shortness of breath during previous inhalations with Emser Salz solution.
When is caution required when using Emser Salz?
If used as directed, no special precautionary measures are necessary.Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist or your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other diseases, allergies n or take other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally!
Can Emser Salz be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
During an existing pregnancy or before a planned pregnancy and while breastfeeding, Emser Salz may only be used after consulting a doctor. If used properly, no harmful effects are to be expected.
How do you use Emser Salz?Adults and children from the age of 4:
Emser Salz should always be used in an isotonic (i.e. the mineral content of the blood) concentration. To do this, dissolve the contents of one 2.95 g sachet in 250 ml or one 1,475 g sachet in 125 ml of water. The quality of the water to be used depends on the application.
Unless otherwise prescribed, Emser Salz is used as follows:For inhalation:
Emser Salz should be inhaled 3-4 times a day. To do this, dissolve the contents of one 2.95 g sachet in 250 ml or one 1,475 g sachet in 125 ml of freshly distilled or boiled distilled water and then inhale with a suitable nebulizer. Compressed air or ultrasonic inhalation devices are suitable. Depending on the type of device, the volume that has to be used for atomization can vary greatly. The inhalation device should therefore be filled with enough solution to ensure an inhalation time of 10-15 minutes.
For nasal rinsing:
Nasal rinsing should be carried out 1-3 times a day with 100-300 ml of solution.In addition, add the contents of one sachet of 2.95 g in 250 ml or one sachet of 1,475 g in Dissolve 125 ml of 30-37 °C warm water and then rinse your nose with a suitable rinsing device.
For rinsing the mouth and throat and for gargling:
The mouth and throat should be rinsed and gargled 1-3 times a day. To do this, dissolve the contents of a 2.95 g sachet in 250 ml or a 1,475 g sachet in 125 ml of water and then rinse or gargle.
Emser Salz is also suitable for treatment over a longer period of time.
Infants and small children up to the age of 4 years, nose and mouth rinses and gargles are not possible without swallowing larger quantities. These types of application are not suitable for this age group.Follow the dosage given in the package leaflet or prescribed by your doctor. What side effects can Emser Salz have?The following side effects can occur when using Emser Salz:
In individual cases, nasal rinsing can lead to slight nosebleeds. Inhalation can cause irritation with shortness of breath in the very sensitive bronchial system. In this case, Emser Salz may no longer be used for inhalation.
