What is Prospanex and when is it used?

Prospanex is a herbal preparation and contains a standardized (i.e. consistent in quality) extract of ivy leaves. Ivy has expectorant and antispasmodic properties. Prospanex is used for excessive build-up of thick mucus, for coughing up a cold.

Prospanex is alcohol-free, sugar-free (with sorbitol) and without dyes.

What should you pay attention to?

If the cough lasts longer than seven days, you should consult a doctor.

This medicine contains approx. 1.9 g of usable carbohydrates per dose dose (5 ml).

When should Prospanex not be taken or only with caution?

Prospanex should not be taken if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients (see «What does Prospanex contain?»). Only use on children under 2 years of age as prescribed by a doctor!Please only take Prospanex after consulting your doctor if you know that you suffer from an intolerance to certain sugars.Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you

Can Prospanex be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the child when used as intended. However, systematic scientific investigations have never been carried out. As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding, or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.

How do you use Prospanex?

Unless otherwise prescribed, small children from the age of 2 years take 2.5 ml 3 times a day, schoolchildren from the age of 6 and young people take 5 ml 3 times a day ml and adults 7.5 ml of juice 3 times a day using the measuring cup provided.

Observe the dosage given in the package leaflet or prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Prospanex have?

The following side effects can occur when using Prospanex: Due to the sorbitol content, a laxative effect can occur.Allergic effects can occur very rarely after taking medicines containing ivy reactions (shortness of breath, swelling, redness of the skin, itching).

In sensitive people, gastrointestinal complaints (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) may very rarely occur.

If allergic reactions occur, the application should be avoided and a doctor should be consulted if necessary.

No interactions have been reported when Prospanex and other medicines are taken at the same time. The preparation can therefore also be combined with other medicines.If you notice any side effects that are not described here, you should inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What else needs to be considered?

The medicine may only be used up to the date marked «EXP» on the container.Store at room temperature (15-25 °C) in the original packaging. p>The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children.

The juice has a shelf life of 6 months after opening the bottle.

Shake the bottle well before each use!

Due to the plant extract content, Prospanex can occasionally become cloudy and have a slight change in taste, but this does not affect the qualityt of the preparation.

What does Prospanex contain?

5 ml contain 35 mg of dry ivy leaf extract (DEV 5-7.5:1). Extraction agent: ethanol 36.3% (V/V).This preparation also contains aromatics, preservatives: potassium sorbate (E 202) and sorbitol as well as other auxiliary substances.
