What is Sinupret extract and when is it used?
Sinupret extract is a herbal medicinal product that contains a dry extract of a mixture of gentian root, cowslip blossoms, common dock herb, elderflower and verbena.
Sinupret extract is used for acute, uncomplicated inflammation of the paranasal sinuses (acute uncomplicated rhinosinusitis).
What should be considered?
A doctor should be consulted in the event of symptoms that last longer than 7-14 days, worsen or recur periodically or are associated with fever (over 38 °C), as well as nosebleeds, severe pain, purulent nasal discharge, blurred vision, asymmetry of the midface or eyes or numbness in the face , as these symptoms or findings are generally considered serious warnings for all forms of rhinosinusitis, which require urgent specialist examination and treatment.
Note for diabetics: this medicine contains 0.3 g of usable carbohydrates per tablet.
When should Sinupret extract not be taken or should only be taken with caution?
Sinupret extract must not be used in children and adolescents under the age of 18 because There are no adequate studies available for use in this age group.
Sinupret extract must not be used if you have gastric or duodenal ulcers or if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to gentian root, verbena, herb of the common dock, elderflower, cowslip blossoms or any of the other ingredients of the drug.
Particular caution is required when taking the medicine if you have a known stomach infection or if you have a sensitive stomach. It is best to take Sinupret extract after a meal and with a glass of water.The medicine contains the sugars glucose and sucrose. Can Sinupret extract be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
