What is Vi-De 3 Month Dose and when is it used?

Vi-De 3 Month Dose is an alcoholic solution containing cholecalciferol (vitamin D3).Vi-De 3 Month Dose is used

• For prevention of a recognizable risk of vitamin D deficiency symptoms in people over 70 years of ageFor treatment of proven severe vitamin D deficiency in people over 70 years of age. It should only be used under medical supervision.

When should Vi-De 3 monthly dose not be taken?

Vi-De 3 monthly dose should not be taken if you

• are hypersensitive to the active ingredient cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) or one of the excipients (see «What is included in Vi-De 3 monthly dose?»)suffer from a disease with an already existing increase in the calcium content in the blood or urine (hypercalcaemia and/or hypercalciuria)tend to form calcium-containing kidney stonessuffer from kidney excretion disorders, are treated with diuretic drugs (benzothiadizine derivatives), suffer from acute pulmonary tuberculosis or are temporarily sedated (e.g. bed or after an operation)suffer from an inflammatory disease with small knots of connective tissue (sarcoidosis)suffer from a thyroid disease (pseudohypoparathyroidism)are already taking other medicines containing vitamin D.

Do not use in children and adolescents.

When should you take Vi- The 3 monthly dose Caution required?

All D vitamins are harmful in high doses, so the monthly dosage must not be exceeded. When using Vi-De 3 monthly dose, make sure that no other medicines with vitamin D or vitamin D-enriched foods (e.g. milk or fats enriched with vitamin D) are taken.

Contact your doctor if you take Vi-De 3 monthly dose over several months. Your doctor will check your blood and urine values. This review is particularly important in elderly patients and during concomitant treatment with digoxin (against heart disease) and diuretics.Vi-De 3 Monthly Dose may only be taken at the same time as calcium under medical supervision. Tell your doctor if you are taking medication with calcium or cholestyramine and colestipol (cholesterol lowering drugs), phenytoin and barbiturates (for epilepsy), glucocorticoids (for inflammation, allergies), digoxin (for heart disease) or diuretics.Be careful with calcium metabolism disorders, kidney disease and heart disease. In these cases, the doctor should be consulted.This medicinal product contains 65% vol alcohol (ethanol) per 5 ml dose, corresponding to 2.6 g alcohol per dose. The monthly dose of 5 ml of this medicine is equivalent to 0.65 dl of beer or 0.26 dl of wine.The amount of alcohol in this medicine is unlikely to affect adults and adolescents, or to be noticeable in children. Small children may experience effects such as drowsiness.The amount of alcohol in this medicine may alter the effects of other medicines. May Vi-De 3 monthly dose during pregnancy or in dduring breastfeeding?

Do not take Vi-De 3 Month Dose if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

How do you use Vi-De 3 Month Dose?

Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor: 1 x monthly 1 bottle of 5 ml.Pour the entire contents of the Vi-De 3 Monthly Dose into a glass, dilute the solution with water and drink it immediately to avoid losing the active ingredient.Observe the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Vi-De 3 monthly dose have?

No side effects have been observed for Vi-De 3 monthly dose when used as directed. As a result of an overdose, the calcium level in the blood may increase, including weakness, headaches, constipation, diarrhea, nausea. If you notice side effects, contact your doctor, pharmacist or druggist. This also applies in particular to side effects that are not listed in this leaflet.

What else needs to be taken into account?

The medicinal product may only be used up to the date marked «EXP» on the container.

Active ingredients

Vi-De 3 monthly dose contains cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) as an active ingredient. 1 bottle with 5 ml oral solution contains 600 µg cholecalciferol, equivalent to 24'000 IU vitamin D3 (1 ml contains 4'800 IU).
