What is Parodentosan Gel and when is it used?

Parodentosan Gel is an antiseptic for diseases of the oral cavity and oral hygiene. It contains chlorhexidine, which has a broad antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi, as well as herbal ingredients with a slightly astringent effect, which reduce swelling in inflamed gums and protect exposed tooth necks. Parodentosan Gel is used to prevent and treat inflammation in the mouth and throat caused by bacteria or fungi, to prevent infections before and after dental operations, and to promote oral hygiene.

What should be considered?

When should Parodentosan Gel not be used?

Parodentosan Gel should not be used if you have a known allergy to chlorhexidine or one of the excipients.

When is caution required when using Parodentosan Gel?

Macrogolglycerol hydroxystearate may cause skin irritation. This medicinal product contains 73 mg of alcohol (ethanol) per application of a fingertip-sized amount equivalent to 150 mg/g (18% v/v). It can cause a burning sensation on damaged skin. Tell your doctor, dentist, pharmacist or druggist if you

  • suffer from other diseases, have allergies ortake other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally.

Can Parodentosan Gel be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the child if used as directed. However, systematic scientific investigations have never been carried out. As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, dentist, pharmacist or druggist for advice.

How do you use Parodentosan Gel?Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age:1. For inflammation:

Twice a day, after each meal and especially before going to bed, put a fingertip-sized amount of gel on one finger and apply to the appropriate area.

2. After toothbrushing:

Put a fingertip-sized amount of gel on a soft toothbrush and use it to massage the gums thoroughly. Then spit it out well and do not take anything more for at least half an hour for the after-effects.

3. Dentures

Fixed dentures or fixed orthodontic appliances can be cleaned with your usual toothpaste. Then use your finger to massage a fingertip-sized amount of gel under the pontics, in the spaces between the teeth or in the root areas. Orthodontic bands and springs as well as periodontal bandages are also low in germs thanks to the gel application. The use and safety of Parodentosan Gel in children under the age of 12 has not yet been tested. Follow the dosage given in the package leaflet or prescribed by your doctor or dentist. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, dentist, pharmacist or druggist.
