  • for the short-term treatment of bacterial inflammation of the gums (gingivitis) and the oral mucosa.

According to medical prescription:

  • for accompanying treatment in therapies of the periodontium,to prevent wound infection during surgical interventions in the oral cavity, with limited oral hygiene ability.

What should be considered?

The contact of meridol perio chlorhexidine solution 0.2% with tissue with poor blood circulation, the auditory canal, the eye and around the eyes should be avoided.

When must meridol perio chlorhexidine solution 0.2% not be used?

meridol perio chlorhexidine solution 0.2% contains chlorhexidine, which in very rare cases triggers allergies. Typical signs are itching, general reddening of the skin, hives, asthma or isolated circulatory reactions. Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the child when used as directed. Systematic scientific investigations were never carried out. As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.

How do you use meridol perio chlorhexidine solution 0.2%?

Adults and children over 8 years of age: the oral cavity is thoroughly rinsed twice a day for one minute with 10 ml of meridol perio chlorhexidine solution 0.2% and the solution is then spat out. It should be used after brushing your teeth and then rinsing them out carefully with water.

The solution is ready to use and should therefore be used undiluted.

meridol perio chlorhexidine solution 0.2% should not be used for more than 7 days, unless your doctor or dentist recommends longer use.Continuous use as a mouthwash solution without mechanical cleaning of the teeth can promote bleeding of the gums.Use and safety of meridol perio chlorhexidine solution 0.2% in children under 8 years of age has not yet been testedüft.Stick to the dosage given in the package leaflet or prescribed by your doctor. What side effects can meridol perio chlorhexidine solution 0.2 %?

The following side effects can occur when using meridol perio chlorhexidine solution 0.2%:

Discolouration of the tooth structure and restorations is very common. These can easily be removed again by the dentist or dental hygienist. Discoloration of the hairy tongue is also possible. This discoloration disappears again for a short time after the end of the treatment. A special cleaner is recommended for full dentures. There may also be a burning sensation on the tongue (when starting treatment), an impaired sense of taste or a numbness of the tongue. These symptoms are reversible after the end of the application.Occasionally, reversible scaly changes in the oral mucosa occur.Hypersensitivity reactions occur rarely. In individual cases, serious allergic reactions have also been described after local application of chlorhexidine.Reversible swelling of the salivary glands is very rare.If you notice any side effects that are not described here, you should consult your doctor , pharmacist or druggist.
