When is Weleda cold ointment used?

According to anthroposophic knowledge of man and nature, Weleda cold ointment can be used to alleviate breathing difficulties associated with colds with cough, hoarseness and runny nose.Weleda cold ointment contains a balanced mixture of various essential oils with a warming, expectorant and decongestant effect. The ointment acts on the one hand by inhaling its volatile components directly on the airways and on the other hand by warming the skin on the chest and back.

The ointment base is well tolerated by normal skin and can be easily massaged in without leaving any residue.

What should be considered?

If children are susceptible to colds or if there is persistent pain and fever, we recommend consulting a doctor.

If your doctor or nurse tells you If your doctor has prescribed other medicines, ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist whether Weleda cold ointment may be used at the same time.

When should Weleda cold ointment not be used or only with caution?

Weleda cold ointment should not be used for bronchial asthma, whooping cough and pseudocroup.Also the ointment must not be used on infants and small children up to the age of 2 years due to the risk of acute apnea if they accidentally inhale it (spasm of the glottis).

The ointment must not be applied to the neck and face area of ??children under the age of 6.

Weleda cold ointment must not be applied to damaged skin and must not be used if there is a known hypersensitivity to any component of the ointment.

Inform your doctor , pharmacist or druggist or your doctor if you

  • suffer from other diseases,have allergies ortake other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally.

Can Weleda cold ointment be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

The ointment must not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding unless prescribed for a short period of time, not over a large area and only if prescribed by a doctor.

How do you use Weleda cold ointment?

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor:Children (2 to 11 years): In the mornings and evenings, with severe colds, rub a pea-sized piece of ointment more frequently (up to a maximum of 4 times a day) onto the chest and back. Adults and adolescents (from 12 years of age): Mornings and evenings, more often in the case of severe colds, rub a hazelnut-sized piece of ointment on your chest and back.Before going to bed, we recommend applying a little more generously and then covering it with a preheated flannel cloth. Wash hands well after use.

Observe the dosage given in the package leaflet or prescribed by your doctor. If the desired improvement does not occur when treating a small child/child, they should consult a doctor.

What side effects can Weleda cold ointment have?

Sometimes there can be allergic reactions such as Skin irritation (redness) and itching. In these cases, the ointment should no longer be used.If you notice any side effects that are not described here, you should inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.Store at room temperature (15-25°C) and protect it from moisture.The medicine may nowr be used by the date marked «EXP» on the container.

What does Weleda cold ointment contain?

1 g of ointment contains: Dextrocamphor 50 mg/eucalyptus oil 50 mg/spruce needle oil 20 mg/mountain pine oil 10 mg/thyme oil 10 mg.Excipients: virgin olive oil, purified water, wool wax, beeswax, hydrolyzed beeswax.
