What is Mg5-Oraleff and when is it used?
Mg5-Oraleff supplies the body with sufficient amounts of magnesium in an easily absorbable form ? bound to aspartic acid. Magnesium is a vital element that is necessary for many metabolic processes in the human body. It is believed that adults need at least 300-400 mg of magnesium per day. One Mg5-Oraleff effervescent tablet contains 7.5 mmol magnesium corresponding to 182 mg magnesium as magnesium hydrogen L-aspartate dihydrate.Mg5-Oraleff is used:
- to cover increased needs (e.g. growth, high-performance sport, pregnancy, breastfeeding);with a low-magnesium diet;for calf cramps.
On medical prescription or on the advice of a pharmacist, Mg5-Oraleff can also be used:
- for muscle twitching;for muscle activity disorders;for muscular cramps.
Mg5-Oraleff is prescribed by a doctor:
- for premature labor during pregnancy;for imminent premature birth ;In the case of cardiac disorders;In the case of persistent diarrhea and as additional therapy with diuretics.
What should be considered?
Patients who follow a salt-free diet will note that an effervescent tablet contains 0.3 g of sodium.
When should Mg5-Oraleff not be taken/used?
Mg5-Oraleff may be used in the following cases are not used:
- in renal insufficiency,in disorders of the conduction of impulses in the heart,in the predisposition to kidney stone formation (magnesium-calcium-ammonium-phosphate stones),in severe dehydration of the body (eksiccosis),in hypersensitivity to one of the components,in phenylketonuria (the product contains aspart am).
When is caution required when taking/using Mg5-Oraleff?
Patients suffering from moderate renal insufficiency may only take Mg5-Oraleff after consulting a doctor.If the cramps last longer than 10 days, a doctor must be consulted.Inform your doctor or pharmacist or druggist or your nurse doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or take other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally, such as medicines that contain iron or fluorine or tetracycline antibiotics.
Can Mg5-Oraleff be taken/used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

How do you use Mg5-Oraleff?
Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the following dosage guidelines apply to Mg5-Oraleff:Adults and adolescents from 12 years of age: 1 effervescent tablet in a glass of water 1 to 2 times a day.Children from 6 years of age: 1 effervescent tablet in a glass of water once a day.The use and safety of Mg5-Oraleff have not yet been methodically tested in children under the age of 6.Stick to the dosage given in the package insert or prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
What side effects can Mg5-Oraleff have?
The following side effects can occur with theTaking Mg5-Oraleff:Occasional side effects that can occur in more than 1 in 1,000 cases but in less than 1 in 100 cases: high doses can cause soft stools, but these are harmless. If diarrhea occurs, reduce the daily dose or discontinue the preparation unless it was prescribed by the doctor.

Mg5-Oraleff should be stored in a dry place, at room temperature (15-25 °C). and kept out of the reach of children.
