What is Magnesium Biomed and when is it used?
Magnesium Biomed contains magnesium in a form that the body absorbs well and in sufficient quantities. Magnesium is a vital mineral that is indispensable for many metabolic processes in the human body. Magnesium mainly affects the heart, blood vessels, nerves and muscles.The normal human requirement is 300 to 400 mg per day. A lack of magnesium can result in mild to serious disorders. There is an increased need for magnesium, e.g. during high-performance sports, pregnancy, breastfeeding, alcohol abuse and during growth. The daily magnesium requirement can even double in these situations.Magnesium Biomed is used:
- to cover an increased requirement, e.g. during growth, in high-performance sports and during pregnancy and breastfeedingin the case of a low-magnesium dietin the case of calf crampsin the case of muscle twitching and restless legs.
Magnesium Biomed can be obtained from the doctor or pharmacist or are recommended by the doctor:
- for the treatment of magnesium deficiencies, which are manifested by symptoms such as tiredness, nervousness and irritabilityin the case of alcohol abuse.
Magnesium Biomed is used on medical prescription:
- for magnesium deficiency that can occur with malnutrition, chronic diarrhea and when taking diureticsFor certain cardiac arrhythmias.
Magnesium Biomed is available in different dosages and in the form of film-coated tablets, as granules for making a solution to be taken and as effervescent tablets.
What should be considered?Note for diabetics:
Magnesium Biomed film-coated tablets contain 0.1 g of usable carbohydrates per film-coated tablet. The medicine is nevertheless suitable for diabetics.
When should Magnesium Biomed not be used?
Magnesium Biomed should not be taken in the event of hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients, severe kidney dysfunction, if the body is dehydrated and if you are predisposed to urinary tract infections with the formation of magnesium ammonium phosphate stones. In these cases, the serum magnesium level must be monitored.
When is caution required when taking Magnesium Biomed?
Patients with moderately impaired kidney function may only take the preparation after consulting their doctor. If the preparation is taken for calf cramps and these last longer than 10 days, a doctor should be consulted. Certain antibiotics (tetracyclines) should be taken 2-3 hours apart from Magnesium Biomed in order to avoid mutual impairment of absorption into the blood. Magnesium taken with vitamin D3 can cause an increased calcium level.Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you

How do you use Magnesium Biomed?
In general, Magnesium Biomed should be taken as follows:
Adults and adolescents from 12 years of age: take 1-2 film-coated tablets 3 times a day with some liquid.
Children from 4 to 12 years of age: take 2 film-coated tablets 2 times a day with some liquid.The use and safety of Magnesium Biomed film-coated tablets in children under the age of 4 have not yet been tested.You should take Magnesium Biomed film-coated tablets before meals.Observe the dosage given in the package leaflet or prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
What side effects can Magnesium Biomed have?
The following side effects can occur when taking Magnesium Biomed:
Uncommon (affects 1 to 10 in 1000 users)
Soft stools. If diarrhea occurs, the dose should be reduced or the therapy discontinued. If you have severe diarrhea, tell your doctor.If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor, pharmacist or druggist. This also applies in particular to side effects that are not listed in this leaflet.
What else needs to be taken into account?
The medicinal product may only be used up to the date marked «EXP» on the container. If you have Magnesium Biomed film tablets that have expired, please return them to your pharmacy or drugstore to be destroyed.

Active ingredients
165.4 mg magnesium hydrogen glutamate tetrahydrate and 436.8 mg magnesium citrate nonahydrate corresponding to 60 mg magnesium (2.5 mmol).
Excipients
Glycerol 85%, Po vidon K 25, macrogol 6000, potato starch, magnesium stearate, ethyl acrylate-methyl methacrylate copolymer 2:1, nonoxinol 100, talc, titanium dioxide, hypromellose, simethicone, methylcellulose, sorbic acid.
