Protagent eye drops are used to lubricate the eyes and treat mild eye irritation. On the recommendation of the doctor, pharmacist or druggist, Protagent eye drops can also be used for dry eyes of various causes.

When not to use Protagent Eye Drops?

If you know or suspect you are hypersensitive (allergic) to any ingredient or excipient of Protagent Eye Drops.

When should you be careful when using Protagent eye drops?

If you experience headache, eye pain, vision changes, eye irritation, persistent redness of the eyes, or none If the eye symptoms improve or the condition worsens, please discontinue treatment and consult your doctor. Transient visual impairment after instillation may affect the ability to drive or use machines. As long as visibility has not returned to normal, the activities mentioned should be avoided.

Note for contact lens wearers

Protagent eye drops contain benzalkonium chloride as a preservative. Benzalkonium chloride can cause eye irritation and is known to discolour soft contact lenses. Therefore contact with soft contact lenses should be avoided. Remove the lenses from your eyes before using the drops and only put them back on your eyes 15 minutes later. Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or are taking other medicines (even those you bought yourself!) or use them on your eyes.

Can Protagent eye drops be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Use the drops only after consulting your doctor, pharmacist or druggist or druggist.

How do you use Protagent eye drops?

Adults: In general, 1 drop in the affected eye 4-5 times a day. The use and safety of Protagent in children and adolescents has not been systematically evaluated. Stick to the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Protagent eye drops have?

The following side effects can occur when using Protagent eye drops: Eye burning sensation, sticky sensation, blurred vision, eye pain, eye itching, abnormal eye sensation, redness of the eye, hypersensitivity reactions (see also 'When should you be careful with Protagent eye drops?'). If you notice any side effects that are not described here, you should inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

In order not to impair the sterility of the eye drops, dropper tip do not touch the bottle with your hands or eyes. Close the bottle tightly immediately after use. After opening for the first time, remove the snapped-off locking ring.

Shelf life

Once the bottle has been opened, do not use the contents longer than 30 days.

Special storage instructions

Store at room temperature (15-25 °C), protected from possible heat and light and out of the reach of children. After completing the treatment, take any remaining eye drops to your point of sale (doctor, pharmacist or druggist) for professional disposal.
