What is Siccafluid UD 0.25% and when will it be applied?

Siccafluid UD 0.25% is a product to replace tear fluid and is used to moisten the eye. It can also be used on the recommendation of the pharmacist or with a doctor's prescription to treat dry eye syndrome caused by various causes.

What you need to know about this?

Your doctor or you have been prescribed this medicine to treat the eye problems you are currently suffering from bought it from a pharmacy or drugstore without a prescription. Do not use it of your own volition for the treatment of other diseases or on other people.

When must Siccafluid UD 0.25% not be used?

This medicine may be used in the case of known or suspected hypersensitivity (allergy) to one of the ingredients of Siccafluid UD 0.25 % are not applied.

When is caution required when using Siccafluid UD 0.25%?

If you also use other eye drops or eye ointments, you should 15 wait minutes. Siccafluid UD 0.25% is last to drip into the eye.

Note for contact lens wearers

Siccafluid UD 0.25% can be used when wearing contact lenses. Because visual disturbances may occur after application of ophthalmic gel, do not drive or use machines for at least 20 minutes. Inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or are taking other medicines (even those you bought yourself!) or using them externally.

Can Siccafluid UD 0.25% be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Based on previous experience, there is no known risk for the child if used as intended. However, systematic scientific investigations have never been carried out. As a precaution, you should avoid taking medicines during pregnancy and breastfeeding or ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist for advice.

How do you use Siccafluid UD 0.25%?

Adults: Drip Siccafluid UD 0.25% into the conjunctival sac and then carefully several times blink your eyelids so that the product spreads well over the surface of the eye. A drop is placed in the conjunctival sac of the eye to be treated 1 to 4 times a day, as required. The duration and frequency of application for dry eyes of various causes are to be determined by the doctor. Dry eye treatment often takes a long time, making regular check-ups necessary. The use and safety of Siccafluid UD 0.25% in children and adolescents have not been the subject of systematic studies to date. Stick to the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What side effects can Siccafluid UD 0.25% have?

The following side effects can occur when using Siccafluid UD 0.25%: Immediately after application, vision may be blurred for a short time and the eyelids may be stuck together or a burning sensation may occur temporarily. Hypersensitivity reactions to any component of the product are possible. If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist. This also applies in particular to side effects that are not listed in this leaflet.

What else needs to be considered?

The medicinal product may only be used up to the date marked «EXP» on the container. To avoid microbial contamination, wash hands thoroughly before use. The tip of the Unidose should not come into contact with the eye and the Unidose should be discarded after use. An opened container should not be used again.

Use by after opening

Once the blister pack has been opened, the remaining doses must not be used after 6 months.

Storage instructions

Store in the sealed original packaging at room temperature (15-25°C). Keep out of the reach of children. During the application period, the unidoses should be kept upside down in the pack to make it easier to instill the gel. Your doctor, pharmacist or druggist can provide you with further information.
