Mg5-Longoral is a chewable tablet that supplies the body with magnesium in a form in which magnesium can be easily absorbed and in sufficient quantities. Magnesium is a vital element that is important for many metabolic processes in the human body. It is assumed that adults need 300-400 mg magnesium per day (1 chewable tablet Mg5-Longoral contains 5 mmol, corresponding to 121.5 mg magnesium as DL-hydrogen aspartate tetrahydrate). Mg5 Longoral becomes:
- to cover an increased need (e.g. growth, high-performance sport, pregnancy, breastfeeding),
- in the case of a low-magnesium diet,
- for calf cramps,
used. On prescription from a doctor or on the advice of a pharmacist, Mg5-Longoral can also be used at:
- Muscle twitching,
- Disorders of muscle activity or muscular spasms

What is Mg 5-Longoral and when is it used?

What should be considered?
Note for diabetics: This medicine contains 0.2 g of usable carbohydrates per single dose.
When should Mg 5-Longoral not be taken/used?
Mg5-Longoral should not be used in the following cases:
- in the case of kidney dysfunction,in the case of disturbances in the conduction of impulses in the heart,in the case of a predisposition to kidney stone formation (magnesium-calcium-ammoniophosphate stones),in the case of severe dehydration of the body (exsiccosis),in the event of hypersensitivity to one of the components,in the case of known sorbitol intolerance (fructose intolerance).
When is caution required when taking/using Mg5-Longoral?
Patients suffering from moderate renal insufficiency may only take Mg5-Longoral after consulting a doctor. If the cramps last longer than 10 days, a doctor should be consulted. Inform your doctor or pharmacist or druggist if you suffer from other illnesses, have allergies or are taking other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally, such as medicines containing iron, fluorine, or contain tetracycline antibiotics.
Can Mg 5-Longoral be taken/used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
According to your doctor, Mg5-Longoral may be taken during pregnancy and be taken while breastfeeding.
How do you use Mg 5-Longoral?
Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the following dosage is recommended for Mg5-Longoral: Adults and adolescents from 12 years of age: 1 tablet 1 to 3 times a day.
Dissolve or chew tablets in mouth before meals and take with some liquid if needed. To date, the use and safety of Mg5-Longoral have not been methodically tested in children under the age of 6. Stick to the dosage given in the package leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
What side effects can Mg 5-Longoral have?
The following side effects can occur when taking Mg5-Longoral. Occasional side effects that can occur in more than 1 in 1,000 cases but in less than 1 in 100 cases: high doses can cause loose stools, but these are harmless. If diarrhea occurs, the daily dose is reduced or the preparation is discontinued unless it was prescribed by the doctor. If you notice side effects that are not described here, you should inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.
