What is Kernosan Horseradish Elixir and when is it used?

Kernosan Horseradish Elixir is an extract from fresh horseradish roots and 11 other medicinal plants. In case of cough, catarrh, bronchitis with mucus, Kernosan horseradish elixir relieves the urge to cough, loosens mucus and facilitates expectoration. Because of its slightly calming effect, Kernosan horseradish elixir is also valued for nightly coughs.

What should be considered?

If the cough lasts longer than seven days, a doctor should be consulted. For diabetics: A single dose contains 1.5 g sorbitol, equivalent to 12 kJ.

When should Kernosan Horseradish Elixir not be used or only with caution?

This medicinal product contains approx. 15% by volume ethanol (alcohol), i.e. up to 2 .2 g per 15 ml, equivalent to 45 ml beer or 18.75 ml wine per dose. It is not suitable for children and young people! Health risk for patients suffering from alcoholism. Must be taken into account in pregnant women and children who are breastfeeding, as well as children and patients at increased risk due to liver disease or epilepsy. Can Kernosan Horseradish Elixir be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

How do you use Kernosan Horseradish Elixir?

Adults: 15 ml undiluted or 15 ml in a cup 3 to 4 times a day, also at night if you have a urge to cough , fill up halfway with hot water or tea and drink warm. Up to 4 cups daily. A graduated measuring cup is included in the pack. Follow the dosage given in the package leaflet or prescribed by your doctor. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or druggist. Not suitable for children and young people!

What side effects can Kernosan Horseradish Elixir have?

No side effects have been observed with Kernosan Horseradish Elixir when used as directed. If you nevertheless observe side effects, inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

What else needs to be considered?

A turbidity or depot formation has no influence on the effect of the preparation. Shake well before use. The medicinal product may only be used up to the date marked ?EXP? on the package. What does Kernosan horseradish elixir contain?

15 ml contain a liquid extract of aniseed 38 mg, horseradish root 272 mg, sweet flag 8 mg, fennel 68 mg, ivy 75 mg, champion root 95 mg, Icelandic moss 38 mg, burnet root 38 mg, plantain 75 mg, sweet angel 18 mg, cowslip root 116 mg, liquorice 57 mg. This preparation also contains auxiliary substances such as sorbitol 1.5 g, sodium cyclamate, the preservative potassium sorbate (E-202), and the coloring agent Caramel (E-150).
